Like every year and for an entire month, between August 13th and September 13th, the 5th edition of the Js13kGames game jam is going to take place…online! The Js13kGames is a JS competition for HTML5 gamedevs where the size limit of the game (rigorously built in JS) is set to 13 kilobytes.

This weekend (10-11-12 May 2014), the GamePix team attended Svilupparty, in Bologna. Svilupparty (literally: “The Developers’ Party”) is a 3-day event, organized in order to celebrate and showcase the work of all italian developers. Three days in which indie developers, gamers, fans, retrogaming nerds, and representatives from important agencies met and talked about themselves and their projects. The event was hosted in the Renzo Renzi Library, at the Cineteca di Bologna, with a lot of trial booths of many awesome games or demo, made by young, but very skilled, italian indie developers. We went through all of them and tried to test all the games. This is what we think about everything we tried. A special thanks to Ivan Venturi, the organizer of the event, who made this happen. Title: The Speed Fragment Studio: SpeedGraphX by Danjel Ricci Description: A racing game between futuristic spaceships, with a throwback to games such as F-Zero or Wipeout, but with a 16-bit touch. The game is completely made by Danjel Ricci and he has been working on it for months to make sure every aspect of the game is perfect. Somehow, we persuaded Danjel to announce a release date right at Svilupparty, and that’s going to be around January 2015. So we will be waiting a little more, but the demo already looks really solid.
